Retired Art Educator Spotlight - Mary Miller - January 30, 2017

I'd like to introduce you to Mary Miller!

Mary taught art at Coopersville Middle School for thirty-one and a half years. Her favorite part about teaching art was witnessing the SPARK of creativity in students who didn't think they were good at art. One Mary's most memorable moments during her teaching career was at parent teacher conferences when a parent of one of her students was a past student. He told her that he loved it so much when they were doing a copper tooling project in middle school that he now restores copper trim on homes in the Grand Rapids Heritage Hill District.

Mary's favorite quote:

Since retiring from teaching middle school art, Mary has been teaching private and small group art lessons in her studio. She is also doing all the visuals at her church, continues ringing handbells at church, and travels to Florida and Sweden to see her daughters and grandsons. She and Gary left their home of thirty-three years and moved into a condo with protected marshland with an abundance of wildlife to photograph.
